I'm gonna wash that teen right out of my hair.

My personal Halloween tradition is that I watch the Halloween episode from all of my favorite television shows that I have on tape, DVD, or electronic file of some sort. "The Adventures of Pete and Pete"'s "Halloweenie" episode, "Freaks and Geeks"'s "Tricks and Treats," and "Eerie, Indiana"'s "Scariest Home Videos" always figure in a major way. I couldn't remember the last time I got dressed up and attended some sort of Halloween event. Last year, I wound up working during my roommates' and my apartment warming/Halloween party.

Last night, however, Becky and I went to a Halloween party at a bar called Libation that a friend of Aubrey and Owen's was hosting. We met up with Aubrey and Owen and danced the night away. In Mean Girls, Cady's character says, "Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." Becky and I took the opposite approach and put on as many clothes as possible. I tucked my beige cords into my rain boots and put a frosted blue silk slip over a long-sleeved black shirt with a robe-style black sweater over it all. I wore large earrings, every bracelet and ring I own, most necklaces in my jewelry box, and a silver scarf wrapped around my neck. Gobs of globs of hair products to dirty my hair and make it stringy and greasy (that took two shampoo cycles to remove), way too much eye makeup, and large sunglasses indoors topped things off. The piece de resistance, however, was the white eyeshadow on my nostril rims. I was one-half of the Olsen twins! Becky and I never decided who was Mary Kate and who was Ashley. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't possible to discern what our costumes were, but we cracked ourselves up so much that it was worth it even considering the "Oh, look at the pirates!" call that we got on the street.
