Have I mentioned that I’m totally butt-crazy in love with Ben Taylor? Once or twice? Okay, well, I’ll say it again: I’m totally butt-crazy in love with Ben Taylor.
I’ve been listening to a duet that he did a few years ago with Yvonne Tipping called “Playing a Game” on single-track repeat for the past three days. Ben’s also featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine this week in all his barefoot, tree-hugging, sexy-tattoo-displaying (not usually a tattoo fan, but his are connected to his spirituality, so I find them more acceptable), no-longer-looks-like-a-heroin-addict, hair-has-grown-back-in, singing-haunts-my-soul, mopey-boy glory. The article is about rock offspring, kids who have grown up with famous musicians as parents. The setup is a little odd, in that the article features people who are not prominently displayed in the photographs, while (for example, Ben) some are staring out from the cover but barely get mentioned. Ben’s sister, Sally, is shown in a family picture but isn’t mentioned as a musician in her own right, and Ben is named as “James’s son” but not Carly’s in the article. Ben is only mentioned in passing, as having attended a concert downtown.
Still, Ben and his band are back in the studio in England, so I’m really looking forward to some new music to which I can groove in the coming months.
Currently listening to: “Playing a Game” by Ben Taylor and Yvonne Tipping, and I’m back on the Wicker Park soundtrack after telling Becky about it the other day
Currently reading: Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger (my high school football team won the State Championship something like three out of the four years I was a student there, but I don’t think I would have gone to a single game had I not been in the marching band; I’m very intrigued by this kind of football fanaticism)
