Give Peeps a Chance!

This is my new favorite thing, a kit to make your own Peeps! Last year at a store on Mass Ave in Cambridge, I saw a headband that a woman made and was selling that was covered in yellow Peeps chicks. They apparently have a shelf life longer than that of a Twinkie and don't dissolve in water. How great would it be, then, to make an entire outfit or set of accessories out of various Peeps products?! (I'm never sure if I'm supposed to use a "?" with rhetorical questions.) So, my birthday's coming up in a few weeks . . . hint, hint . . . Haha--just joking. Sort of.

Currently excited about: After years of hemming and hawing, Miramax is finally releasing Prozac Nation on DVD. I've seen the film as a "pirated, marginally well-encoded video file," as Kelzie says, that was taken from the Swedish DVD, and it's not fantastic (preferred the book), but it'll be fun for Harvard grads because the producers really did their homework and recreated rooms in Matthews (Shawn's room that the production crew came to measure!) and Hurlbut that look like the real thing; the real outside of UHS even makes a cameo.

2 awesome things about peeps. one...have you ever microwaved them and eaten them with a spoon? amazing. they puff up. it's great. also, back when i used to be a teacher i did this lesson where i dissolved peeps in sulfuric acid. their eyes wouldn't dissolve. I have no clue what they could be made out of. weird. Whenever I watch With Honors and Brandon Frasier joggs by Winthrop House in the opening credits i always smile. just like when I see Hocus Pocus and they're on my street in Salem.

None of my local video stores carries Hocus Pocus. I've been trying to rent it for *months!* Melissa used to have "Peep wars." Apparently, if you stick a toothpick into the stomach of two Peeps (facing out like a lance), place George and Bob so that they face each other, and microwave them, one will poke the other and cause it to deflate. ;)
