There are a series of websites that I check on a daily basis--most simply regurgitate gossip found on other sites, but I really don't mind that I'm reading the same things over, since I'm intrigued by the different tactics that the people use to describe the same events.* For example, Defamer versus Media Martini's coverage of Lindsay Lohan's recent car crash.
One website that drastically breaks from this pattern, however, is Overheard in New York. One of my favorite things to do while walking down the street is to space out and specifically try to pick up on snippets of the conversations I pass. It's sort of like closing your eyes while you're flipping between TV stations and allowing your mind to string together the various comments you hear.** Overheardinnewyork.com serves as an outlet for all the out-of-context and truly stupid comments*** that people overhear on the streets of New York.
Because of this, I was just thinking about some of the funny things I've seen written on the walls of bathroom stalls. Ellis Paul sings, "Back in school, I found the only written truth / On bathroom stalls and telephone booths. / I studied awhile, but college got in my way." If that's true, then my truth is: "Never hold your farts in."
This will probably be my last post until after the LSATs (unless, of course, there's some breaking news that's absolutely gagging for my comment). All I have to say is "Bring. It. On."
*Here, I am towing the party line. Inasmuch as this is true, I'm also simply a bit of a gossip lover--and I hate myself for it. The irony of the various media publications' coverage of Lindsay Lohan's recent collision [pun intended] with the paparazzi was not lost on me. The Bosh even included Lohan's lawyer's statement that points in that direction.
**I saw a commercial (currently searching for the exact copy) that is unintentionally one of the funniest things I've ever seen. In the middle of the commercial, we hear (in a voiceover) [making these up since I can't find the ad copy, but it gets at the same idea]: "Side effects include fever, dehydration, constipation . . . so what are you waiting for?!" Hmmm . . . if they insisted on "so what are you waiting for?" as their tag line, they really shouldn't have put it immediately after a list of uncomfortable side effects. An unintended side effect of this rant of mine (since I performed an extensive search to try to find the copy) is that all of my pop-up ads will now assume I have incontinence issues. Fantastic.
***I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and would like to think that some of these things were said in jest and taken out of context . . . but some are truly, truly stupid. I'm sorry. It had to be said.

good luck on the LSAT! kick it's ass. and p.s. we need to talk about the train wreck that is lindsay lohan and britney/kevin sometimes. why do my favorite stars do this to me?
They both look so bad in such different ways. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050530/SPT/505300372 versus http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/archives/005993.html. Poor girls.
How was your reunion?
