Okay, so it turns out I was a little off--but in a good way: the Ben Taylor Band is not only playing on the Vineyard this summer, but . . . they're also playing New York City's Cutting Room several times. Hooray! I missed the first show, but you'd better believe that I'll be at (almost) all of the rest. Also, the lovely Chrissi Poland is also playing there June 6th, and Melissa (who's coming down from Boston) and I (and anyone else who'd like to come!) are going to hop on by after I finish showing the LSAT what a little Nell one-two combination can do. Pow!
I've been listening exclusively to Sally Taylor's music for the past few days (when I'm not listening to Middlesex at work--amazing so far), and I remembered a cute little anecdote I overheard her tell. She was talking to a fan at one of her concerts at the House of Blues and said that her mom (Carly Simon) has always been very supportive of her music and comes (came--since Sally doesn't perform all that often anymore) to as many of her shows as possible. Mom Carly would always stand close to the stage, dancing and singing along. The problem was that she often didn't know the words. Sally would look down at her mom, see her messing up the lyrics, and forget what they were herself.
And Defamer.com used a headline today made me smile uncontrollably: "To Do: Dancing About Architecture, Swilling Wine, Hearing Music." This is part of a line from the movie Playing By Heart. The full line is, "Talking about love is like dancing about architecture." I seriously thought that Kelzie was the only person in the world to have seen this movie (before I watched it with her, of course). It was fun to know that it was being used as a "cultural" reference.
It's Wednesday. I have pink in my outfit and am carrying a pink purse.
