"Luke, I am Lizzie's father."

On Saturday morning, Mike, Sarah, and I went to see The Big Red One (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080437/) at the New York Film Festival. Before the screening began, the film's reconstruction-producer spoke and introduced several members of the cast.

Mark Hamill, famously reclusive and best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies, starred in the movie and was at the screening. That for me, however, was not the highlight. Robert Carradine, brother of Keith, was also there, and I almost jumped off the balcony I was so excited. Since the name "Bob Carradine" may not carry a lot of weight, perhaps it might help if I say that he played the father on Lizzie McGuire.

The film itself was pretty interesting--if not a little cheesy and long. Nonetheless, I thought several scenes were quite effective and I was impressed by the director's humanity through framing and timing.

After the film was over, we walked outside, and I saw a strange-looking man with Andy Warhol hair, a button-down shirt, and an ascot. He was being interviewed by a television reporter, and he looked so familiar. Twelve steps down the street it hit me that it was Peter Bodanovich http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000953/, director of some of my favorite movies (The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, etc.)!

Goodbye, Janet Leigh. You will be missed.
