Shiny Faces

Monday would have been my parents' thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. This is a strange concept to me, since I've never felt so far from being married as I do now. As I watch more and more people I know changing their online status to "engaged" or "married," I begin to panic--and then I remember that I'm only twenty-five and that I don't want to rush a good thing and risk finding a bad thing by accident in my haste.

I've been what feels like very busy for the past few weeks. Having Becky in my apartment is a great blessing: I finally feel like I can go out and do all the things I've wanted to but haven't for lack of wanting to pick up a phone or go by myself: case and point, the Union Square Green Market. Tiffany stopped by en route to Morocco last weekend, and I had lunch with her and three other people--one of whom lives in New York. Aubrey's bachelorette party was the weekend before last, and it was an absolute blast! We started with lunch on the roof of the Met, went to the zoo and on the Central Park Carousel, had Chinese food at my apartment, and then spent the night dancing away at the Awesome 80's Prom! Yes, the exclamation point is mandatory.

One disappointment of late was the outdoor screening of Charade at Bryant Park on Monday. Charade is my second favorite movie (after Cloak & Dagger, bien sur), and I've watched it more times than I can try to count. Even still, the audio quality was so bad at the park that I couldn't understand a word that was being said, so Becky and I left not ten minutes into it. She had never seen it before and had no idea what was going on.
