"Well, I'd snap attention if I thought that you knew the way / I'd open my mouth if I had something smart to say."

I truly enjoy the fact that I'm gainfully employed, but somehow it always seems that I wind up having to work late on those days on which I already had plans. Neither occurs all that often, so it's always a major disappointment (in terms of missing my plans) but at the same time I like the overtime pay I make. It's definitely 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. I said that phrase to either Becky or Tiffany one time (forget who--maybe both), and she had never heard it before. I was shocked. Is it just me? This is a relatively common phrase, right?

Anyway, tonight I'm missing out on Scrooged, which is one of my favorite movies. For some reason I really can't understand, I actually really like Bill Murray. *Grimaces and hides.* I love What About Bob? and Scrooged. Bob's free association in What About Bob? never fails to make me crack up. I don't remember it verbatum, but it comes completely unprovoked and goes something like, "Some free associations from my childhood: a house, a fence, a log, a bog, a dog, a poodle, a noodle, a doodle--" Okay, that's not it at all. I'll try to remember to write it down the next time I watch the movie. Of course, a lot of the humor is in Murray's delivery.

I should get back to work so that I can leave at a reasonable hour and maybe even make it out to meet up with Aubrey--whom I left in the lurch for Scrooged. Truth be told, they had sold out of the free tickets by the time I got to the box office during the afternoon anyway, but I wouldn't have been able to go. As another blogger says, "Le sigh."

If anyone who's reading this (making the rather large assumption, of course, that anyone actually is reading this) is in New York and wants to go listen to some music this Saturday evening, please let me know. Ari Hest (a new favorite) is playing at Coda on 34th and Madison, and Alternate Routes are opening for him. At the same time, Chris Trapper is playing down in Alphabet City at 9th (?) and Avenue A at MoPitkins. I'm going to try to make it to both concerts. I don't have time to fill in the links right now (will try to remember to do it later), but a Google search should pull up the bands' websites and should have samples of their music. Chris is currently touring sans Push Stars, so it's best to look up his individual website rather than the band's. Also, I know that Alternate Routes has a MySpace profile (?) account (?). That's actually a question I've had recently: a lot of people have said, "Hey, Nell, do you have a MySpace?" I feel like only one shoe has fallen when people say that. It seems like it needs a . . . something . . . at the end. Okay, so my free association was a whole heck of a lot longer than Bill Murray's was.

First, "6 of 1, half a dozen of the other" is very common to me. You aren't alone.

Second, "I have a MySpace page" is what I say...

Since this newest post wasn't about humans without identifiable chins guy, I want to hear if anything has happened with that! :)
