. . . maybe I should have just held out for hearing my own name in the media.
My favorite (music) radio station comes from Martha's Vineyard, WMVY Radio. I recently discovered that I can listen to it through streaming audio on-line at work (http://www.mvyradio.com/). Last Thursday I was in the mood to hear a song by Ben Taylor because the music the station plays evokes such a strong sense-memory of the Vineyard for me. I wrote a "long-distance request" as they call it saying that I would love to hear a song by Ben Taylor in honor of his acting debut on American Dreams on Sunday (September 26). I waited during the entire lunch program, not even getting up to go to the ladies' room for fear I would miss it, but to no avail. Then, today at 12:55 I hear, "And today's request is going out to Nell in New York." The DJ read my e-mail, told stories about Ben, and then played "Safe Enough to Wake Up." It totally made my day, which has been rawther unpleasant so far. If I were able to call in sick (have to wait 90 days after August 23rd before I can), I would have. Yuck. So, any loving thoughts and feel-betters sent my way would be mucho appreciated.
And today is my mother's TKrd birthday. Happy birthday, Mom!

Loving thoughts and feel-betters are coming your way right now!!! Uh, it won't make *you* feel better, but I haven't been feeling very good either. I'll be thinking of you!
You feel better, too, Kiddo! I don't know about you but there are definitely some days when I miss being at home and having my mom take care of me when I get sick. Speaking of mothers, how is your family doing in Virginia? I can't believe Lucy is in college. I honestly still picture her in about the second grade.
So do I (sometimes)!!! My family is doing really well, thank you. My mom spent nearly every day all summer working at least part of the day at "the garden," the large-ish patch of veggies and plants that side of my family has kept up for years and years out at Hanshill. My dad's business is doing well--I'm really happy for him and for the fact that he's working from home. Lucy is--yes!--a freshman at James Madison University. And Greg, well, Greg's still living at home but has "moved up" to the 4-year college in town and seems to be liking things better out there. :)
